Eastern Kentucky Move

We moved from central Ohio early summer 2024. Everyone has been really welcoming, we did chose a property way out there, we wanted acreage and privacy we ended up kind of in the middle of several of the bigger towns and we’ve visited quite a few. I think Prestonburg and Paintsville have the best shopping, but Campton and Hazard have really tasty dining options. We attended a festival in Jackson, and our son goes to school in Salyersville. Salyersville schools came highly recommended and it was a huge break from what we were used to, with school supplies and school meals provided for free. There’s after school programs, and the library and churches have a lot of things for kids to do.

My advice for movers, is visit the community and visit the property both are important to appreciate in person, We visited probably 25 properties and each of them we saw a lot that we would never have seen (good and bad) in photos. Brandi King was our realtor and was AMAZING. We have had luck with starlink for teleworking and our family that moved with us also used at&t I think for telework. Lastly, Don’t trust your GPS! 😂 You may end up in a totally different destination down here.
