Amazing Hiking and Dog Walking Options

I love to walk - with friends, my dog or even a solo hike. The South Bend - Elkhart region is truly an outdoor enthusiast's gem! Between all of our college campuses, multiple river walks, a ton of city parks to choose from, a great state park and perhaps the best county park systems in the state, the biggest decision is which trail to choose from! Both South Bend and Mishawaka have great riverside trails in their downtowns. And the campuses of both IU South Bend and Notre Dame are treasures in the heart of the communities. In Elkhart, you can't beat Wellfield Botanical Gardens - one of the best outdoor experiences around. All of these options are great in any season and provide a true escape. In fact, I rank the trails and serenity around the lakes at Notre Dame as my favorite place to walk anywhere in the world. Literally. So, by all means, get out and walk, run, bike, cross-country ski, or whichever method you choose to enjoy our amazing outdoor options in the region. You truly won't be disappointed!
