Located in east-central Maine, and only a short drive to the ocean or mountains, Bangor offers a little something for everyone. Bangor Public School system features 10 schools, and proudly touts a matriculation rate of 88.7 percent for Bangor High School graduating seniors, with 78.1 percent pursuing post-secondary education. Students can pursue tracks in STEM, business, visual and performing arts, and humanities. 

Downtown Bangor boasts a diverse mix of Greek Revival, Victorian, Colonial Revival, and modern architecture, so there’s truly housing options for all preferences. Located just a few miles outside of town, residents can also pop over to Bangor City Forest, a 650-acre recreational area offering hiking, cross-country skiing and a bog boardwalk, which provides a unique way to explore the area’s forested wetlands.

I currently live in Northeast Ohio, but my husband was born and raised in Maine. I’ve only briefly visited Maine before, so I haven’t really gotten the chance to explore and get a feel of what the people are like.
